Emanà: "A win this week would give us a mental boost"
VCF Mestalla have two games left in 2020. The goal for Óscar Fernández' side is to get their first victory before the Christmas break and to end the year on a high.
Atletico Levante and La Nucía are the two opponents remaining this year, with the former visiting the Antonio Puchades this Saturday. Player Stephane Emaná looked ahead to the game on VCF Media Radio.
Playing against Atletico Levante
"It's an important game in which we really want to continue doing things well, as we have been -despite not getting the results that we want. We are really eager to pick up the three points.
"We hope to provide the same good performance that we have had since Matchday 1, continue to progress with the good things we do, and take the three points, which is the most important thing."
Assessing the opposition
"They come into this game off a win. They have also been in a rather difficult situation. They play very good football and push hard. Despite being a second team, they don't collapse, as we've seen from other second teams in the division. We expect that they will make things difficult for us, but we are preparing to be able to cope with that and take the game into our terrain."
A positive feeling
"The team have looked good in the opening matches of the season. We have been quite intense, doing things the way the coach wants, and we have shown that we are a powerful side who are tough to score against."
A young squad
"In the end, the young players are there to improve us as well as to learn from us. They are hardworking kids. You can see that there is a good team dynamic, even though we are in the COVID-19 situation, and we have a good dressing room. The younger players are very eager to learn, and we are working hard."
Aiming to win the penultimate match of 2020
"Winning this weekend and scoring points away from home would give us a boost on a mental level before the Christmas break. That's the same whether you are a second team or a more veteran side."
Óscar Fernández and his coaching staff
"He brings a lot of discipline and great knowledge about all of our opponents to the table. They give us a lot of information and help us. Óscar is a coach who was here many years ago and has coached several good teams. The results will come, and with their help I am sure that this will be sooner rather than later."
Adapting to VCF Mestalla
"It's going very well. The adaptation time was very good. The guys welcomed me quickly into the team dynamic. I really appreciate that, despite the effects of COVID-19, you can see that the team have a strong dynamic. You feel much better like that, and the adaptation time is much faster as a result."
The VCF Academy
"Valencia CF are a very big club, with an Academy from which many very good footballers have emerged, such as Yunus and Gayà. There are many players performing at a very high level. In terms of football, the VCF Academy is one of the best youth systems in Spain."
